REPUBLIC, Mo. — The Tigers registered nine hits and scored in each frame to run-rule Joplin in six innings in a Class 4 District 11 quarterfinal on Wednesday.
Carthage advanced to today's semifinals to square off with second-seeded Webb City at 6:30 while the Joplin's season came to a close.
The Tigers scored three runs in the bottom of the first and eventually built a five-run lead before Joplin plated its run in the top of the fourth. Carthage scored six unanswered runs from there, with the final one coming on a wild pitch that allowed
Sydney Peters to score to end the game.
Peters, who had a pair of doubles and scored twice, and
Hallie Patrick had a team-high two hits for the Tigers. Patrick homered once and finished with three RBI.
Christa Gould, who doubled, and Gabriella Quinn accounted for Joplin's two hits.
Carthage's Maddie Adams earned the win, going six innings without allowing an earned run.
