CARTHAGE - On Monday, the Carthage High girl's tennis team opened Team District play by hosting Neosho in the first round. In what was likely the last interscholastic competition held on the school tennis courts at KE Baker Complex, the Tigers were victorious by a count of 5-0 over the Wildcats. District scoring differs from regular season in that once a team reaches 5 total wins, the match is over.

Mariah Copeland won 8-1 over Emily Mitchell & Michelle Lyndsey. CHS #2 doubles

Hadley Hicklin won 8-3 over Sarah Werner & Julie Phillips. In #3 doubles,
Malory Moore and
Bailey Rodebush (CHS) won 8-3 over Morgan Brattin & Rylee Marion.
In singles, Carthage #1
Lily Smith beat Emily Mitchell in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. #3
Darcy Teel for the Tigers beat Julie Phillips 6-0, 6-0 to secure the team win. All other matches were suspended.
With the victory, Carthage advances to the district semifinals on Tuesday vs. Joplin at Joplin starting at 4:00 pm.
