Boy's Soccer: Tigers Pick Up Wins After OT Loss

CARTHAGE - The first week had some exciting games for the Tiger boy's soccer team and their fans. 
 
Carthage High opened the season at home with a thrilling 3-2 loss in PK's to Springfield-Catholic. Catholic brought in a lofty state ranking and always a good team with good tradition. In the end, their experience paid off by holding off the Tigers in OT. The Tigers were led by David Garcia who had both Carthage goals unassisted. 
 
The second game of the season Carthage defeated Webb City 3-0. David Garcia paced the Tigers as he had 2 goals and 1 assist. Kelvin Ramos had a goal and Carlos Maturino had 2 assists. 
 
On Friday night, Carthage played at Harrisonville, the Class 3 4th place finisher from 2017.  The Tiger defense was outstanding and as was ball movement. The Tiger defense earned a shutout for the road victory. The lone Carthage goal was by Celio Coreas as the Tigers took a 1-0 victory.
 
The Tigers next play on Tuesday, September 4 at Neosho. The varsity will start the night at 4:30 followed by the JV game.  On Thursday, Carthage returns home to host Glendale with JV starting the night at 5:00 followed by the varsity game at 6:30.
