PITTSBURG, KS - The Blue Valley Northwest Huskies showed all those in attendance why they're ranked first in Class 6A by the KBCA.
With plenty of firepower at every position, the Huskies rolled to a 94-49 win over Carthage.
"They are very talented and very well-coached," Carthage coach
Steve Ray said. "I wish we could have played a little better, but give those guys the credit."
Christian Braun poured in 29 points for the Huskies, all but two coming in the first half.
Alex Martini scored 12 points for the Tigers.
The Tigers stayed within striking distance early, trailing 23-18 after a trey from
Taris Jackson.
But Braun scored seven-straight points to end the period, including a steal and thunderous dunk that gave the Huskies a 30-18 lead.
The Huskies scored 17-straight points in the second quarter en route to a 59-24 halftime advantage.
Blue Valley Northwest meets Rogersville in tonight's semifinals at 8:30, while Carthage takes on Olathe Northwest at 5:30.
"It will be a good test for us," Ray said. "We come here to play tough competition."
