NEVADA — A fourth-quarter scoring surge lifted Nevada past Carthage in a nonconference game at Nevada High School.
After trailing by four points at halftime, Nevada (13-5) built a two-point lead by the end of the third quarter and then put Carthage (10-8) away with a 29-12 run in the fourth.
Nevada made 12 3-pointers and was led in scoring by Matthew Thompson, who had 26 points. Logan Applegate added 18 points while Lane McNeley chipped in 14 and Logan McNeley 11.
Carthage was paced by
Taris Jackson and
Marcus Huntley, who had 17 and 15 points, respectively.
Carthage plays at Joplin on Tuesday.
