Boys Soccer: Tigers Prevail Over Ozark, Elements

CARTHAGE - Carthage High School boy's soccer hosted Ozark High School on Tuesday night in a battle of Tigers as well as with the cold and rain. The weather shortened the JV match to a one half affair which saw Carthage JV beat Ozark JV 2-0. The varsity tilt featured Class 4 #10 ranked Ozark battling Class 4 #15 Carthage.
The two teams went scoreless in the first half. It wasn't until the 67' mark that Carthage senior Jesus Alvaredo found the back of the net to give CHS a 1-0 lead. Just one minute later at 68', Neyzor Ramos-Garcia netted another goal for the blue Tigers, assisted by Chris Rocha, giving Carthage a 2-0 lead.
It wasn't until extra time that Ozark broke through, at the 80'+3' mark, Jose Ortega scored for OHS making the final margin 2-1. The win quietly pushed the Carthage Soccer overall record to 18-3 and finished 7-2 in the COC.
The Tigers will close out the regular season on Thursday when they host Springfield-Catholic at 5:00 pm.
