Baseball: Tigers Split Day With Lebanon, Aurora

CARTHAGE — Carthage opened the day with a 6-4 loss against Lebanon before wrapping up with a 12-2 win over Aurora in five innings on Saturday at Carl Lewton Stadium.
 
LEBANON 6, CARTHAGE 4
In the opener, Lebanon scored three runs in the top of the sixth to break a 2-2 tie and added an insurance run in the top of the seventh. Carthage rallied for two runs in the last of the seventh before the final out was made.
Keaton Mizer earned the win for Lebanon after allowing two runs, one earned, on three hits, three walks and three strikeouts in five innings of work. Drew McBride allowed two runs, one earned, on one hit, four walks and a strikeout in two relief innings.
Kanen Vogt took the loss after allowing six runs on 10 hits, three walks and six strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. Clay Kinder pitched a scoreless 1/3 of an inning.
Zack Stweart went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, two runs scored and an RBI, while Isaac Ledbetter had two hits, including a triple, and two RBI to go along with a run scored.
Wil McCombs had an RBI double and scored a run, while Kaden Kralicek doubled and scored a run.
 
CARTHAGE 12, AURORA 2
In the nightcap, Aurora scored a run in the top of the first before Carthage responded with five runs in the bottom half to take control. The Tigers added two runs in the second frame, three in the third and two more in the fourth to end the game via run rule at the end of five.
Kanen Vogt got the scoring starting in the first with a two-run single to center field before Parker Copeland added a two-run single to right with two outs to push the lead to 4-1. Grant Collier followed with an RBI triple to left. 
Vogt added to his big day with a two-run home run to left field in the second inning, while McCombs highlighted the three-run third with an RBI single in the hole to short. Caden Kabance picked up an RBI single in the fourth, while Kralicek brought a run home with a groundout. 
Copeland earned the win after allowing two runs on four hits, a walk and a strikeout in five innings.
Noah Boon took the loss after allowing seven runs on eight hits and two strikeouts in two innings.
Kabance had two hits, two runs scored and an RBI, while Vogt homered, had two hits, scored twice and drove in a team-high four runs. Copeland doubled, had two hits and two RBI as well as a team-high three RBI.
Carthage hosts Colgan on Monday.
