CARTHAGE 72, HAZELWOOD WEST 46
ROLLA, Mo. — Junior guard Justin Ray poured in 29 points and hit eight 3-pointers as the Tigers ended the U.S. Bank Holiday Tournament with a second straight win.
The lopsided victory gave Carthage fifth place at the invite.
Carthage led 25-13 at the end of the opening period and extended its advantage to 40-19 by halftime.
Hazelwood West outscored Carthage 17-9 in the third period, but the Tigers won the fourth quarter 23-10 to end the tournament on a positive note.
Ray scored 20 points in the first half and tied a school record with his eight treys. In addition to Ray's 29, senior guard Max Templeman scored 23 points.
Britt Coy and Clay Kinder added nine points apiece.
Carthage (5-5) hosts McDonald County on Jan. 5.

CARTHAGE BOYS SNAP SKID WITH LOPSIDED WIN
ROLLA, Mo. — The Carthage boys basketball team ended a five-game skid with a dominating 75-35 win over St. Pius X on Wednesday in the consolation semifinals of the 2022 US Bank Holiday Tournament at Missouri S&T.
The Tigers (4-5) will conclude tourney play at noon on Thursday in the event's fifth-place game at Rolla High School.
Carthage took control of Wednesday's contest from the start, as the Tigers raced out to a 25-4 lead.
Carthage's halftime advantage was 46-14 and the Tigers were up comfortably 66-28 at the end of the third quarter.
Carthage senior guard Max Templeman scored a game-high 21 points and hit three 3-pointers. Templeman scored 19 points in the first half.
Justin Ray added 12 points for the Tigers, while Britt Coy scored 10 and Clay Kinder added nine. Overall, 11 different players scored for Carthage.Â
Before Wednesday, the Tigers had dropped five straight games by a combined 30 points, as four of the five losses came by single digits.

TRUMAN BOYS 56, CARTHAGE 52
ROLLA, Mo. — Truman edged Carthage 56-52 on Tuesday in the opening round of the US Bank Holiday Tournament at Missouri S&T.Â
Truman led 14-11 at the end of the first quarter and 32-26 at the half. Carthage trailed 46-41 entering the fourth quarter.
The Tigers won the fourth quarter 11-10, but it wasn't enough. Â
Justin Ray led the Tigers with 15 points and Max Templeman scored 13. Britt Coy and Clay Kinder contributed nine points apiece.
Carthage (3-5) will return to tourney action at 4 on Wednesday against either Waynesville or St. Pius in the consolation semifinals.
