PITTSBURG, KS - In a girls' contest that wasn't decided until the final seconds, Blue Valley Northwest edged Carthage 42-38.
The Tigers only trailed by two with 30 seconds to play when the Huskies hit a pair of free throws to seal the win.
"It was a good game," Carthage coach
Chad Jones said. "We competed well, but we struggled to score in the third period. We needed a little push there. We had some costly turnovers down the stretch and we missed some free throws. There were just a few little things here and there. It is what it is."
The Huskies outscored the Tigers 12-4 in a game-changing third period.
Sophomore
Hailey Fullerton paced Carthage with 12 points, while senior Lexi Black added eight. Morgan Edwards scored 19 points to lead the Huskies.
The Tigers won't know who they play Saturday until tonight's results are final. Today's girls games are Pittsburg vs. Blue Valley Northwest at 5:30 and Carl Junction vs. Kickapoo at 7.
