Sectional Track: Hettinger, Lindsey Qualify For State

WAYNESVILLE - Mother Nature has given spring sports coaches fits as games and meets have been canceled, postponed or sometimes miserable to compete in this spring. Originally scheduled for Saturday at Waynesville High School, the MSHSAA Class 5 Sectional 3 meet was moved to Monday due to Saturday's storms and rain. 
The top performers for the Carthage High School track teams, and qualifying for the state meet in Jefferson City this Friday and Saturday, junior Joey Hettinger placed 2nd in the girls high jump as she cleared 5'-5". Also qualifying for state on the boys side was junior Micah Lindsey who finished fourth in the shot put with a heave of 49'-4.25". Lindsey finished in 7th place in the discus.
The Tigers' 4×400 relay fell one spot of advancing after taking fifth just .08 out. Miguel Solano place 5th in the 800m run finishing 0.09 out of the 4th spot. The Tigers 4x200 finished 6th in a tight race that saw 4 teams within 1 second.
The Lady Tigers came up just short in the 4×100, finishing fifth. Lilly Holmes, a junior, was fifth in the shot put and seventh in the discus. The Lady Tigers 4x400 finished in 7th place, while the 4x800 took 7th.
