NIXA - Class 4 District 11 girl's soccer district play got underway on Tuesday night at Nixa High School. The #3 seeded Carthage High team took on #2 seeded Republic in the second match of the night. Republic looked to duplicate their 6-1 COC win over Carthage from earlier in the season, but the Lady Tigers would put up a superb effort, falling eventually 4-3.
Republic would open the scoring by netting two goal to take a 2-0 lead midway through the first half.
Stephanie Matul found the back of the goal at 11:51 to draw CHS to 2-1. Republic chipped in another goal to extend their lead back to two goals at 3-1. With 2:29 left in the first half,
Daniela Marquez scored a goal for Carthage closing the gap to 3-2, which would be the first half score.
Early in the second half, at 37:40, Marquez scored her second goal of the game to tie the game at 3-3. However, Republic would be the team who would score the last goal of the game, doing so at 24:54 left to give the orange Tigers the final 4-3 margin and win.
